Dear Residents/Friends and Family of Bay View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center:

While we have been individually calling/emailing (per preference) all Guardians/POA/ or first Emergency Contacts and notifying residents individually each time there is a change in our COVID update situation, including following testing and/or notification that we have added a detected COVID case to our roster, we will no longer be making individual calls/emails.

We will be notifying all parties: residents, Guardians/POA/ first Emergency Contacts via the Bay View website and posted signs at each station, which we have also been doing for several months.  The website will be updated with the current COVID status daily.  Please refer to this link https://www.bayviewnursingmn.com/category/covid-19-updates/ for current information.  This will include the current information re: pending cases (tested awaiting results), NEW confirmed cases (since the day before); Total Confirmed Cases (by Staff and Residents); deaths related to the virus; and whether there have been three or more residents or staff with new onset of respiratory symptoms within 72 hours.  We will notify the resident and their Guardian/POA/first Emergency Contact via in-person/telephone only if the resident receives a detected COVID (positive) result.  Otherwise, it can be deduced, that resident results were undetected for COVID (negative).

If you do not have internet access, computer, means to access this information via the Bay View website, please call Social Services: Colleen at 651-385-4801 or Robin at 651-385-4827 to request to be called with updates, and we will accommodate you.  If you have questions specific to our Infection Control efforts or policies, please direct those to Rachel Deringer, RN, Infection Control Nurse.

Bay View will test all staff and residents both this week and next week and going forward weekly as needed until we have two rounds with all negative results for both staff and residents. Therefore, we remain on suspended visitation status.  Information regarding the visitation status will also be included in the daily update.  Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

Sincerely,

Frank Robinson, LNHA
